For Authors

TheBacklist.org is not a promotional platform. We don't sell ads. We don't sell placement. We don't accept payment in exchange for visibility.

We're an independent archive. Every book in our collection was either nominated by readers, selected by our editorial board, or contributed by a founding member during our initial archival period. We preserve fiction that holds up — books readers are still talking about long after the release day hype is gone.

If your book is in our archive, it's because it earned its place.

What Archival Means

  • A permanent archive page for your book
  • Collection placement eligibility
  • Wall of Fame eligibility
  • The Backlist Badge — a shareable graphic with your book cover thumbnail + “Archived at TheBacklist.org” + “Est. 2026”

There is no cost for any of this. Archival is free because preservation is the mission.

How Books Are Selected

1. Reader Nomination

Books with consistent reader support are reviewed by our editorial board. If readers keep talking about it, we pay attention.

2. Editorial Selection

Our editorial board identifies fiction across all genres that meets archival standards. Not bestseller lists, not sales volume, not follower counts. We look for the work itself.

3. Author Submission

Authors may submit their own work for review. Submission does not guarantee inclusion. Our editorial board responds within 30 days.

Submit Your Book

Our editorial board reviews every submission. You'll receive a response within 30 days. We do not provide editorial feedback on submissions that are not selected for archival.
